The Trail to Oregon
The Trail to Oregon! is a hilarious, interactive musical parody inspired by the classic Oregon Trail video game. Created by StarKid Productions, the show follows a dysfunctional American family in the 1800s as they journey westward in search of a better life — facing danger, disease, and ridiculous misfortune at every turn.
The family — composed of the Father, Mother, Daughter, Son, and Grandpa — must survive river crossings, food shortages, wild animals, and bandits. Each character struggles with personal flaws and relationships as they try to stick together while forging ahead through the perilous frontier.
Adding to the chaos, the audience plays a vital role in the show. They vote on key decisions, such as naming the family members and determining who ultimately dies of dysentery — making every performance unique.
Filled with absurd comedy, catchy songs, and fourth-wall-breaking moments, The Trail to Oregon! is a loving roast of American pioneer mythology, the classic computer game, and family dysfunction — with a heartfelt core about growth, sacrifice, and survival.
